The Power of Personal Change

A Six-Day Intensive in Awareness, Communication and Change

Most people think they know themselves.

Until they see, in real time, how their thinking is constructing their reactions, decisions, habits, conversations and emotional responses.

The Power of Personal Change is an immersive  six-day NLP-based training for people who want practical skills for managing pressure, understanding behaviour, communicating more effectively, and creating useful change in themselves and others.

You’ll slow down your internal processes enough to recognise what is happening, practise new ways of responding, and develop skills you can use in everyday life, leadership, coaching, relationships, business and personal change.

This is a stand-alone course. It also forms Module 1 of the full NLP Practitioner Training pathway for those who may wish to continue later, provided there is enough interest.

A Small Group Is Being Considered

I’m considering running The Power of Personal Change later this year, depending on the number of genuinely interested people.

This will be a small, committed group rather than a large public course. Because the training is experiential, practical and personal, group fit matters.

If you’re interested, you’re welcome to register your interest. I’ll then let you know about a short online Q&A, where you can ask questions, understand the course more clearly, and decide whether it feels like the right next step.

Next Step

If this feels like something you’d like to explore, you’re welcome to register your interest.

Before confirming the next course, I’ll offer a short online Q&A for people who are seriously interested. This gives you a chance to ask questions, understand how the training works, and decide whether it feels like the right fit.

Full investment details are listed at the bottom of this page, including options for private, self-employed/professional and organisation-funded places.

What You Learn Here

The training combines practical models, guided exercises, discussion, observation and real-life application,  so the ideas don’t stay theoretical. You learn by taking part, trying things out, reflecting, practising and noticing what changes as you go.

Understanding How the Mind Organises Experience

You’ll discover how internal images, language, attention, beliefs, values and emotional state shape how you experience the world, often without realising it.

Once you see these patterns clearly, many previously confusing behaviours begin to make sense, including your own.

Managing State and Emotional Pressure

You’ll learn practical ways to interrupt automatic reactions, shift unhelpful emotional responses, and become more resourceful when situations are challenging, uncertain or emotionally charged.

These skills are useful in leadership, business, coaching, teaching, parenting, relationships and everyday decision-making.

Communicating More Effectively

Much of what we do in life involves communication, with others and with ourselves.

You’ll explore how language, listening, non-verbal signals, assumptions and internal maps affect understanding, relationships and outcomes.

You’ll also practise listening in a way that helps people feel heard, respected and more able to find their own clarity.

Recognising Patterns and Creating More Choice

You’ll learn how to notice patterns in thinking, behaviour, motivation, overwhelm and communication before early enough to respond differently

Instead of reacting automatically, you can pause, recognise what is happening, and choose a more useful response.

Applying the Learning to Real Life

Throughout the training, you’ll apply the ideas to real situations from your own life.

By the end of the six days, the aim is not simply to understand the models, but to use them more naturally.

This isn’t surface-level mindset work. It’s a structured exploration of how your internal processes function, how they influence your behaviour, and how you can reshape what isn’t serving you.

As the week progresses, understanding becomes recognition. Recognition creates choice. And choice makes change possible.

Foundations

This programme draws on NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), emotional state management, and structured models of how people interpret and respond to experience.

Over three decades, I’ve integrated these models with practical observation and lived application, refining what consistently works in real life.

The Power of Personal Change is an experiential NLP -based training focused on behavioural change.

It begins with how you construct your own experience, because professional impact grows from personal awareness, flexibility and choice.

How We Work

The group is small. Everyone practises. Everyone observes. Everyone has their moment.

People usually begin the week focused on learning new skills. Somewhere along the way, something else happens.

As you start recognising your own thinking patterns — and seeing how differently others experience the same situation — your perspective widens. The room changes. Not dramatically. Just noticeably.

When people understand themselves more clearly, they relax. And when several people experience that together, a natural ease develops.

I create a space where people gain insights in real time — often with a moment of “oh… that’s me” or “that’s exactly what I do”.

We work with what shows up in the room. A word choice, an assumption, a conclusion, a reaction or a repeated pattern can become part of the learning. We slow it down, examine how the thinking is being constructed, and explore what else becomes possible.

It’s safe enough for people to be honest,  and challenging enough for real change to happen.

The room is a place where you can experiment, get things wrong, adjust, and try again.

Mornings begin with open reflection. If something needs time, it gets time. The learning isn’t rushed to fit a neat schedule.

At some point during the week, you’ll get stuck. Everyone does. Just not always at the same moment.

Participants reflecting during a break in The Power of Personal Change training.

One person might wrestle with beliefs. Another with values. Someone else with listening or state. That’s normal.

When it happens it usually means your mind has all the information — it just hasn’t organised it yet.

I often describe it like being handed a page covered in numbers. At first glance, it looks chaotic. But put those same numbers into a spreadsheet, and suddenly it makes sense.

Your mind does that too.

Sometimes it just needs space to format what it’s learned. Often, after a night’s sleep, it clicks into place the next morning. If it doesn’t, we look at it together.

No one is left floundering. And no one sails through all six days without hitting at least one moment of “hang on…”

That’s part of the process.

Although the programme has structure, it’s deliberately flexible.

As people begin noticing connections, I encourage them to share what they notice. Those insights don’t just deepen one person’s understanding, they move the whole group forward.

I pay close attention to how far to stretch someone without tipping them over the edge. Growth requires movement. It also requires steadiness.

There’s laughter.

Because when you can laugh at a problem, it loses its grip.

Six days of immersion doesn’t mean six days of heaviness. Depth and lightness sit side by side. That balance is intentional.

What Changes

Over the six days you’ll work with things like:

  • recognising and shifting your emotional state when it isn’t serving you
  • recognising assumptions and beliefs that quietly influence your decisions
  • identifying the values driving your motivation, frustration or sense of direction
  • setting outcomes that actually align with who you are
  • refining your listening so people feel heard and understood
  • noticing incongruence in communication, including your own
  • building rapport without performing
  • recognising patterns early enough to choose a different response
  • staying more resourceful under pressure

By the end of the week, these skills begin to feel less like techniques and more like awareness you can use in real situations.

Participants often describe things like:

  • clearer thinking under pressure
  • more choice in how they respond
  • less second-guessing
  • more ease in conversation
  • greater awareness of others
  • more trust in their own judgement

One participant told me:
“I found out more about myself in six days than I had in 49 years of living.”

Another said:
“It felt like 10–15 years of personal development in six days.”

Those are their words, not mine.

What Others Notice

People at home or at work often comment before participants mention anything:

“You seem calmer.”
“You’re different somehow.”
“You’re easier to talk to.”
“You seem more confident.”

Participants at the end of a six-day training.

The final afternoon of a six-day training. Tired, thoughtful… and slightly changed.

When your internal processing changes, your behaviour reflects it naturally.

You understand more clearly how people differ in the way they think, communicate and respond. You know how to shift your state when you need to. You have more choice in conversations, decisions and challenging moments.

And you leave with practical ways to keep developing these skills long after the six days are finished.

Who This Training Is For

This training attracts people from many different backgrounds, but they usually share one thing in common: they’re ready to look at how their thinking and behaviour shape their results.

It may be especially useful if you are:

  • a leader, manager, business owner or self-employed professional who wants clearer thinking and better communication
  • a coach, therapist, trainer, facilitator or mentor wanting deeper practical skills
  • a principal, senior staff member, educator or people-focused professional who wants to understand behaviour more effectively
  • someone at a turning point in life who wants to move forward with more awareness and intention
  • a curious human who wants to understand how your mind works and why it sometimes behaves like an unsupervised committee
  • For those currently in an Evolving With Intention group, this can be a natural next step. EWI explores identity and direction; The Power of Personal Change develops practical skills for state, communication, values, patterns and change.
Participants working together in small groups during a personal change training.

No prior training is required.
What they usually have in common is a willingness to participate fully and learn through experience rather than observation alone.

No prior NLP training is required.

What matters more is your willingness to participate fully, reflect honestly, practise with others, and learn through experience rather than observation alone.

You’ll learn by taking part, trying things out, reflecting, practising and noticing what changes as you go.

They don’t just want new ideas.

They’re willing to examine their own thinking.
Participants are prepared to engage fully — reflecting, practising and taking part rather than simply observing.

Curiosity helps.

A willingness to engage makes all the difference.
The more you put into the process, the more you’ll gain from it.

About Me

I’ve spent more than three decades helping people understand how their minds work — and how to change patterns that aren’t serving them. I’ve trained NLP Practitioners and Coaches, worked with leaders and teams, and guided individuals through significant personal transitions.

Over the years, I’ve refined what works in real life — not just in theory.

What I enjoy most about this training is the moment when multiple ideas lock together and a series of realisations land at once. I love seeing that happen. The person relaxes. Something suddenly makes sense that hadn’t before.

That moment never gets old.

Because the programme is intensive and the group is small, places are limited. The investment reflects the depth of work and individual attention participants receive.
