About Raglan

Raglan township sits on the Whaingaroa harbour and estuary on the west coast of New Zealand’s North Island. Just out of town, the intense Tasman sea teases the black sand beaches. The area lies under the protective watch of Mt Karioi, an extinct volcano also known as Sleeping Lady.

In surfing communities, Raglan is world-famous for its left-hand break. Surfing is also accessible year-round at Whale Bay, Ngarunui Beach and Indicators.

The laid-back lifestyle, beauty and wonderful sense of community set Raglan apart. It’s a place where you’re expected to be yourself. We have no airs and graces. We don’t care how people dress. But we do care about your heart and who you are beyond any superficiality. Our community is an eclectic melting pot of people from all over the world.

Raglan is ideal and idyllic. I received increased value from the 18 days because it was in Raglan. The vibe and being away from other distractions …perfect.

Perfect!

The Lonely Planet Guide says, ‘Raglan might be NZ’s perfect surfing town.’ And, ‘Raglan might also be New Zealand’s best-looking town. It’s exactly the sort of laid-back, charming place that sees you shuffle your itinerary to extend your stay.’

Training in Raglan

When you decide to participate in a course, it adds to the immersive nature of the course to be away from home. Imagine leaving the training room at the end of each day, and free of household obligations for the duration of the course, just relaxing and unwinding.

Perhaps you’ll enjoy sharing a meal with other participants or maybe simply chill out on your own. One thing’s for sure; you won’t be stressed-out and stuck in traffic for hours on end.

The Raglan setting was perfect – the venue relaxing and comfortable, handy to all amenities, just a short walk away from amazing water views, fresh air, calming, relaxing and energising township. The best place for a course like this…and the people in the community are so open and friendly.

With friendly people, no traffic or parking troubles, beautiful scenery and interesting, eclectic shops, Raglan has it all. Wild West Coast surf, or inner harbour tranquillity, walks and various fun activities. There’s always something to do when you’re not in the training room.

Raglan has no fast-food chain outlets, but there’s plenty of good food to be had in the trendy town cafes. In this incredibly creative and talented community, a wide variety of artwork abounds. Participants on my courses always comment on how friendly everyone is – and how much they love the laid back Raglan vibe.
